Vitamin D Video Reference Guide
General tips when bad things are happening
If your application crashes, or seems sluggish, or has other problems (e.g., you can't see your cameras), standard computer software troubleshooting rules apply. Try turning cameras off and on again, quitting the app and re-launching, and perhaps rebooting your machine if it has been operating for several days straight or longer.
One important part of quitting the application, involves shutting down the video processing. There are background processes that run independently of the application, so to make sure all background processes are shut down, turn off all cameras in the Monitor view before exiting the application. In rare cases the processes may not have properly shut down. If you go to Windows Task Manager > Processes, you can quit any processes that have "Vitamin D" in the name (e.g., "Vitamin D Agent.exe"). On Mac OS, these processes can be seen at Applications > Utilities >Activity Monitor.
If all else fails, for example if some files may have been corrupted, you can try to uninstall the program, remove the data directory, reboot and reinstall. This should fix any possible corruption problems. To remove the data directory, do the following in Windows:
- Before starting, if you have purchased a Basic or Pro Edition, make sure to find your license file. Search for an ".lic" file.
- Go to the Start menu and find Vitamin D Video > Uninstall Vitamin D Video
