Vitamin D Video Reference Guide
Menus
This section provides a summary of menu commands in Vitamin D Video. To skip to Mac OS menus, click here.
Windows
File menu
- Exit. Quits the application, but leaves cameras running if they are turned on.
View menu
- Monitor view. Switches to the Monitor view.
- Search view. Switches to the Search view.
- Show Boxes Around Objects. Displays boxes around moving objects in videos in the Search view.
- Show Different Color Boxes. If Show Boxes Around Objects is selected, then yellow boxes are displayed for people and green boxes for other moving objects.
- Show Region Zones. If viewing a video clip that was recorded because it triggered a region-based rule, a red box is displayed around the region in videos in the Search view.
- Large (Basic and Pro Editions only). Changes the video pane to a larger size.
- Small (Basic and Pro Editions only). Changes the video pane to a smaller size.
Controls menu
- Play/Pause. Plays the selected video if in Pause mode, and vice versa.
- Previous Clip. Selects the clip before the one being currently viewed.
- Next Clip. Selects the clips after the one being currently viewed.
- Top Clip in List. Selects the first clip in the list on the page.
- Bottom Clip in List. Selects the last clip in the list on the page.
- Previous Day. Changes the list of clips to the day before the one being currently viewed.
- Next Day. Changes the list of clips to the day before the one being currently viewed.
- Next Frame. Advances to the next frame of the currently viewed video.
- Previous Frame. Moves back to the previous frame of the currently viewed video.
- Forward 2 Seconds. Advances two seconds in the currently viewed video.
- Backward 2 Seconds. Moves back two seconds in the currently viewed video.
- Next Event in Clip. Skips to the next triggered event in the currently viewed video (blue mark in the playback bar), or the end of the clip.
- Previous Event in Clip. Skips to the previous triggered event in the currently viewed video (blue mark in the playback bar), or the beginning of the clip.
- First Event in Clip. Skips to the first triggered event in the currently viewed video (blue mark in the playback bar).
Tools menu
- Export Clip... If you select a video clip in the search list of the Search view, this lets you save a copy of the clip as an .mp4 file.
- Delete Clip... If you select a video clip or clips in the search list of the Search view, this removes the clip(s) from your list.
- Select All Clips. Selects all of the video clips displayed in the search view list.
- Add Camera... In the Monitor view, this displays a wizard to set up another camera to work with Vitamin D Video. Note that you have to configure and set up the camera before connecting it to Vitamin D Video. Details of this wizard can be found by selecting your configuration in the Getting started tab.
- Edit Camera...In the Monitor view, this displays the setup wizard and allows you to change settings of a camera that is already set up with Vitamin D Video.
- Edit Camera Location... In the Monitor view, this allows you to change the name of a camera.
- Remove Camera... In the Monitor view, this removes a camera and (optionally) the associated video clips and rules.
- Reconnect to Camera... In the Monitor view, this attempts to connect to a camera when the connection has temporarily been lost. Vitamin D Video attempts to connect to cameras automatically, but this option lets you try to connect immediately.
- Arm Cameras... (Basic and Pro Editions only) Displays a dialog that lets you select a set of cameras to turn on immediately or after a delay.
- Turn Off Cameras. (Basic and Pro Editions only) Turns off all cameras in one step.
- FTP Status. (Basic and Pro Editions only). If you have rules set up to save clips to an external FTP site, this dialog tells you if there are clips that have not yet been uploaded.
- Options. Displays a dialog that lets you configure how much disk space to allocate to video.
Help menu
- Reference Guide. The menu command to access the web-based documentation you are currently viewing.
- Learn About Upgrade Features.... Opens your browser and takes you to a web page comparing the features of the different editions of Vitamin D Video.
- Report a Problem. Allows you to send a bug report and your video logs to Vitamin D (but NO private data or video clips are sent).
- Show License Information. Information about the application version and licensing.
- Check for Updates.... Checks if a newer version of Vitamin D Video is available.
- About Vitamin D Video. Information about the application version and licensing.

Vitamin D Video menu

- Preferences. Displays a dialog that lets you configure how much disk space to allocate to video.
- Services. Displays OS X options.
- Hide Vitamin D Video. Hides the window showing the application.
- Hide Others. Hides windows of other applications.
- Show All. Shows all windows.
- Quit Vitamin D Video. Quits the application, but leaves cameras running if they are turned on.
